I got a girl's number, what should I do next?

I met this girl the other day that is going to be going to my college in the fall. Today I asked her for her number. We haven't talked much, except about school. What should I say to her if I call/text her? I just need the opening line for a text, for example, and I can take it from there. It's just that she won't know who I am right away and I don't want it to be awkward. Should I be straightforward and say "hey this is Jeremy"?
