How many times must I shuffle to reorder a new deck of cards?

I heard that if you do the 'riffle' shuffle perfectly 7 times, it perfectly randomizes the cards, and then the 8th "perfect riffle shuffle" reorganizes them. Any weight to this proposition? Thanks
